Dear Anonymous,

While 3W allows anonymous comments (A) to allow people to post who do not wish to reveal themselves or (B) that don't want to sign up through blogger... I would people appreciate if others knew to whom they were responding.

Thnx

Boswell: "Supposing the person who wrote Junius were asked whether he was the authour, might he deny it?" Johnson: "I don't know what to say to this. If you were sure that he wrote Junius, would you, if he denied it, think as well of him afterwards? Yet it may be urged, that what a man has no right to ask, you may refuse to communicate; and there is no other effectual mode of preserving a secret, and an important secret, the discovery of which may be very hurtful to you, but a flat denial; for if you are silent, or hesitate, or evade, it will be held equivalent to a confession. But stay, Sir; here is another case. Supposing the authour had told me confidentially that he had written Junius, and I were asked if he had, I should hold myself at liberty to deny it, as being under a previous promise, express or implied, to conceal it. Now what I ought to do for the authour, may I not do for myself?"

zev, i think what you meant to say (ie, should have said) is:

"while apt 3w allows anonymous comments...
i would appreciate if people didn't use anonymity to post comments that look an awful lot like incitement to lashon ha-ra."

as they say about the ganav, he's worse than a gazlan because he is afraid of people, but not of God.
lehavdil, i suppose...

i've become so moralistic, maybe i really do need to go to law school... ;)

ciao.

Is Rabbi Rosenberg leaving U of C? We obviously no longer get any hillel/yavneh emails. This is our one source of hillel news!

According to a Yavneh E-mail, David Rosenberg will be leaving after this quarter. The e-mail contained no explanation. The [redacted] told me he spoke to David Rosenberg and the latter said he had decided on his own that he felt he had been a Hillel long enough and wanted to do other things (he said something in particular, I just forget). It still sounds strange to me, if, as I understood, David Rosenberg was not leaving for a specific job.
